ABOUT ME!
My name is Benji Kaufman.
I didn’t always seem destined to be a broadcaster - I didn’t even start talking until I was three or four. But somewhere along the way, I found my voice. A big part of that came in high school, when my English teacher pushed me to think differently about storytelling and showed me how powerful words, and the people behind them, can be.
After graduating from the University of Maryland’s Philip Merrill College of Journalism - where I developed as an anchor, reporter, play-by-play broadcaster, and storyteller across both on-camera and production work - I am now a News & Sports Digital Multimedia Journalist at WMTV in Madison, Wisconsin. I’m excited to continue growing as a journalist and telling stories that matter in the community.
Whether it’s reporting live, putting together a package, or designing something that brings a story to life, I enjoy being involved in every part of the process.
Beyond journalism and broadcasting, I like to stay active, whether that’s playing tennis or basketball, and I enjoy spending time with friends and family. I’m also a big movie and TV person. During the pandemic, I wrote reviews for over 100 films, and my current favorite shows are Breaking Bad and Arrested Development.
