& Multimedia Journalist

ABOUT BENJI KAUFMAN

Benji Kaufman is in his final year at the Philip Merrill College of Journalism at the University of Maryland, studying journalism. Passionate about sports and news reporting, he thrives as an anchor, reporter, live broadcaster and graphic designer, with strong skills in video editing and design. Kaufman brings a unique blend of on-camera presence, field reporting, and creative visual production to his work. With hands-on experience across multiple areas of journalism, his dedication to delivering impactful, visually engaging stories sets him apart. Whether reporting from the field or crafting dynamic visuals behind the scenes, Kaufman is driven by a passion for telling the stories that matter in sports and news. Kaufman will be interning with Prince Georges Community TV in the summer of 2025. In the fall, he will serve as an on-air broadcaster and reporter for Capital News Service, a student-powered news organization run by the University of Maryland Philip Merrill College of Journalism.

TERRAPIN SPORTS CENTRAL

Benji Kaufman has steadily worked his way up at Terrapin Sports Central, a student-run media outlet dedicated to covering University of Maryland athletics. He began his TSC journey as a freshman working as a crew member and quickly established himself as an on-air presence with early reporting experience. By his sophomore year, Kaufman was named Creative Video Director, taking charge of designing graphics and producing dozens of hype videos across a wide range of Maryland sports. In his junior year, Kaufman expanded his role further—anchoring several times for The Left Bench, TSC’s flagship weekly studio show that highlights Maryland athletics through features, highlights, and original segments. He continued to lead content creation for TSC’s Instagram and X platforms, and he also wrote, shot, and edited a longform enterprise story on sibling athletes at Maryland, combining reporting and visual storytelling to showcase his skills beyond daily coverage. Now entering his senior year, Kaufman serves as Creative Content Director for TSC, overseeing the organization’s visual identity across all platforms. In this role, he continues to lead TSC’s creative direction—developing graphics, editing hype videos, and driving a consistent and engaging social media presence. Kaufman’s commitment to combining sports journalism with design and multi-platform storytelling has gave him great experience in the field of broadcasting.

BIG TEN PLUS, STUDENT U

Benji Kaufman has contributed across multiple live production roles for Maryland Athletics broadcasts through BTN’s StudentU program, which offers hands-on experience in sports television production. He has called several Maryland softball games as a play-by-play broadcaster on Big Ten Plus, and worked as a scorebox operator for Maryland baseball, managing live score graphics. As a camera operator for men’s soccer broadcasts, Kaufman focused on framing, anticipating plays, and maintaining steady visuals in live settings.
